Greece, Oceania Cruise’s Nautica Ship

Greece Part 2

We arrived to our ship in Piraeus, Greece with our group late in the day. We boarded quickly, they pulled up the gangway behind us and we were off to the cruise portion of our Greece vacation. What a beautiful evening sunset as we pulled away from the port.

The first port of call was Volos, Greece we went to the top of Mt Pelion to the town of Makrinitsa it sits high on the mountain top with views of the Aegean blue water below. A number of movies have filmed there.

Next port stop Phillippi, still in the area of Kavala Greece a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016. It is a large archaeological site with Archaeologists working as we walked through. All of the archaeological sites we visited depend on grants and donations to fund the continued work, the limited funds means many years of careful excavations.
