Our ship Uniworld’s River Empress was docked further up the river in Mannheim Germany.  Europe had experienced about 3 straight weeks of heavy rain.  The river had to be closed till it receded, our ship had only gotten as far as Mannheim when this happened.  It is not uncommon for river cruises to experience this so I highly recommend when you choose your trip to see what happens when mother nature doesn’t cooperate. We were not aware of how often this occurs when we had booked our first cruise but learned quickly. I had done a lot of research before booking with Uniworld @uniworld and ultimately chose them for many reasons but they have been excellent handling the water level problems on our cruises.  The entire staff on every ship we have been on goes above and beyond to make your vacation memorable.  We were greeted with blue champagne as we first boarded the ship then a couple days later when the river opened & we set sail we celebrated again.    @uniworld
