Unplanned memories often end up a favorite.
The unplanned on your vacation can often end up being one of the lasting memories.
When you carefully select your cruise and go over the itinerary details then select excursions and as wonderful as they all are it is often something unplanned that creates a special memory.
Our Alaska Cruise on board the Star Legend was starting off with a new chef so the Executive Chef Graeme Cockburn of @windstarcruises was also on board for the orientation. He did demos, Galley tours & shared in conversations around the ship (and with a great Scottish accent). Getting to know those on board is a nice benefit of the small ship experience both other guests and the entire crew. The food the entire trip was excellent, although hard to pick I think my favorite was the Lobster Risotto which was also a demo. Windstar Cruises are a unique experience with the smaller ships, less people, closer to ports or getting into smaller ports, the trade off is a quieter time after dinner but if you are taking advantage of everything you are relaxing getting ready for another day of adventure.
Photo is from after our galley tour. During the galley tour when talking about the flow of the kitchen at one point he told a story of getting a request the night before for a dessert for 3 they only had 2 servings left. Instead of saying anything he stopped & made another one. The 3 of us realized he was talking about us, he had no idea it was us but we all had a good laugh! Personal experiences like this happen everyday on small ships.
